Okay, first of all, Edwards kicked Cheney's ass. That was clear, right? Cheney did land some good ones early on, but by the end he looked like his vitamins were wearing off (every answer started off "Uh...Gwen...I...uh...it's hard to know where to begin..."), and he was reduced, in response to a question about bipartisanship, to babbling like Grandpa Simpson about politicians most of the audience had never heard of. Like Bush, Cheney clearly did not want to be there, while Edwards came off as full of purpose and sharp as a tack.
      And Edwards showed that ruthlessness is not an exclusively Republican trait, in his hilariously "compassionate" comments about Cheney's lesbian daughter: "I'm sure the vice president loves his daughter who is gay. Everyone knows that he has a gay daughter, right? Especially all his Evangelical supporters? Y'all know about the vice president's lesbian gay homosexual daughter? And I'm sure his deep love for this homosexual daughter who is a lesbian and also his daughter leads him to feel very conflicted about the administration's plan to use constitution to promote bigotry against lesbian gay daughters. I'm sure it must be difficult for him to talk out of both sides of his mouth on this gay lesbian homosexual daughter issue."
      Then Cheney had to fucking thank Edwards for his comments, and declined to say anything else in his allotted thirty seconds.
